Accomodation

CSE prides itself with years of experience in collaboration with Cambridge locals in welcoming and supporting international students during their visit.

We have been working with our host families for a number of years, and built a relationship based on trust and mutual collaboration. By providing accommodation in host families, we want to give every student the opportunity to become more independent, open and aware of the cultural and educational diversity existent in an academic environment. All our families are carefully selected, with a number of conditions that they have to adhere to, including DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service check).

So, what is a host family? A host family is a very special group of people who are able to welcome a young person into their home and allow the student the chance to enrich their lives while also enriching their own lives. Host families come in all shapes and sizes and live in all parts of the city. Their main role is to provide support and care for a foreign student and to treat them as they would their own son or daughter. It is an experience that families and students will never forget and will build lifelong relationships.

Everyone can be a host family in the UK, for a foreign student: young, old, couples, single people, married, unmarried, grandparents, parents with older children, parents with young children, parents with children who have moved away from home, or adults without children.

Host families do not need to speak a foreign language, we just ask that you speak English.

The student must have their own bed, but may share a room with one of your children or another student. Students can only share with people of the same gender.

All rooms are single occupancy, allocated for one semester July/August. Members of staff are on call 24/7. Resident assistants and university security staff are also available in the event of an emergency.
